Facility Automation and Layout Engineer

Fort St. John, BC · Full time · $90,000–$120,000 a year

Fast-forward one year

You laid out our shop so a part moves from saw to mill to inspection without crossing back.

You measured a partner shop’s flow and showed them where a tending robot would pay for itself.

You wrote the playbook we use when a new shop joins.

Now back to today. If you'd like this story to be yours…

Rennick

Rennick prices CNC parts in seconds and makes them in Canadian shops. We're building a network of those shops that shares work, metal, people and training, and we don't turn people away: if we can't hire you today, we'll help you get where you're going.

The role

Shops lose more time moving parts and waiting than cutting them. You find that time and get it back, on our floor and in partner shops, with layout first and automation where it pays.

What you'll do

  • Lay out cells, flow and storage on our floor
  • Study partner shops’ flow and find the bottlenecks
  • Make the case for automation with real numbers
  • Plan equipment moves and installs
  • Write the standard layout for new partner shops

What you bring

  • A degree in industrial or manufacturing engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Plant layout and value stream mapping
  • Time studies and capacity math
  • CAD for layouts

What sets you apart

  • Machine shop experience
  • Lean or Six Sigma training
  • Automation projects you saw through

New to the trade? We train. Missing something on the list? Apply anyway.

How we work

  • Reliability. Shows up on time, ready, every day.
  • Humility. Takes feedback and adapts without getting defensive.
  • Growth. Learns new tools and asks to learn more.
  • Honesty. Flags problems early and owns mistakes.
  • Go the extra mile. Helps wrap up someone else’s work when theirs is done.
  • Own it. Acts like it’s their own company.

Pay

$90,000–$120,000 a year (NOC 21321)

How we hire

A call, an interview about things you've actually done, a paid hands-on test for the last few people, then references and an offer. Background checks come only after an offer, and only the ones this job needs. AI helps us read applications; it never scores or rejects anyone. We answer every applicant.
