CNC Machinist

Fort St. John, BC · Full time · $30–$46 an hour

Fast-forward one year

You ran the first jobs on our new 5-axis and wrote the setup sheets our partner shops now use.

You caught a tap drill error on a customer’s drawing before the first chip, and they’ve reordered twice since.

You took our first apprentice through Level 1.

Now back to today. If you'd like this story to be yours…

Rennick

Rennick prices CNC parts in seconds and makes them in Canadian shops. We're building a network of those shops that shares work, metal, people and training, and we don't turn people away: if we can't hire you today, we'll help you get where you're going.

The role

Every part on lightmatter.ca is priced in seconds. You’re who makes the price true: you set up, run and inspect the work that comes through our own floor, and your setup sheets become the standard for the shops we partner with.

This is not a button-pushing job. You’ll own jobs from stock to shipping.

What you'll do

  • Set up and run CNC mills and lathes from the job sheet
  • Prove out programs and fix what the CAM missed
  • Inspect first articles and fill in the report
  • Write setup sheets other shops can follow
  • Train an apprentice
  • Flag drawings and models that will cause trouble, before the first chip

What you bring

  • Two or more years running CNC mills or lathes, or a Red Seal Machinist ticket
  • Reading drawings and GD&T
  • Measuring with micrometers, bore gauges and a height gauge
  • Tickets that apply: WHMIS, first aid

What sets you apart

  • 5-axis or mill-turn experience
  • Fanuc, Haas or Mazak controls
  • CAM in Fusion or Mastercam

New to the trade? We train. Missing something on the list? Apply anyway.

How we hire

A call, an interview about things you've actually done, a paid hands-on test for the last few people, then references and an offer. Background checks come only after an offer, and only the ones this job needs. AI helps us read applications; it never scores or rejects anyone. We answer every applicant.
