Software Engineer

Remote in Canada, or Fort St. John · Full time · $100,000–$150,000 a year

Fast-forward one year

You made the instant quote read a STEP file in half the time.

You shipped the offer flow that sends jobs to partner shops.

You found a pricing bug before a customer did.

Now back to today. If you'd like this story to be yours…

Rennick

Rennick prices CNC parts in seconds and makes them in Canadian shops. We're building a network of those shops that shares work, metal, people and training, and we don't turn people away: if we can't hire you today, we'll help you get where you're going.

The role

lightmatter.ca reads a customer’s CAD in the browser, prices it in seconds and runs everything after: payment, partner shops, shipping. You’ll work across all of it, from three.js and WebAssembly to Postgres and serverless functions.

What you'll do

  • Build features across the site, the portal and the admin
  • Work on CAD reading, design checks and pricing
  • Build the partner network: offers, scorecards, payouts
  • Keep it fast, secure and tested
  • Talk to customers and machinists about what they need

What you bring

  • Experience shipping web software end to end
  • JavaScript, SQL and a feel for the browser
  • Writing tests
  • Reading code and leaving it better

What sets you apart

  • 3D or geometry work (three.js, OpenCascade, CAD formats)
  • Manufacturing experience
  • You’ve founded something

New to the trade? We train. Missing something on the list? Apply anyway.

How we work

  • Reliability. Shows up on time, ready, every day.
  • Humility. Takes feedback and adapts without getting defensive.
  • Growth. Learns new tools and asks to learn more.
  • Honesty. Flags problems early and owns mistakes.
  • Go the extra mile. Helps wrap up someone else’s work when theirs is done.
  • Own it. Acts like it’s their own company.

Pay

$100,000–$150,000 a year (NOC 21231)

How we hire

A call, an interview about things you've actually done, a paid hands-on test for the last few people, then references and an offer. Background checks come only after an offer, and only the ones this job needs. AI helps us read applications; it never scores or rejects anyone. We answer every applicant.
